Angles-sur-l'Anglin

Officially one of the “Plus Beaux Villages de France,” this tiny village is built into the cliffs above the River Anglin. Wander the narrow lanes, cross the ancient bridge, and take in the ruins of the medieval fortress. It’s also known for its tradition of “Jours d’Angles” — intricate handmade lacework.
Poitiers

The historic capital of the Vienne département, Poitiers is a lively university city with Romanesque churches, a beautifully preserved old town, and excellent restaurants. Don’t miss the Église Notre-Dame la Grande with its extraordinary carved façade, and the Palais des Ducs — one of the oldest great halls in Europe.
Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers

A hauntingly beautiful ruined château reclaimed by nature — trees grow through the towers, ivy covers the Gothic windows, and the reflection in the surrounding moat is unforgettable. Saved from demolition by a crowdfunding campaign, it’s now open for guided visits. One of the most atmospheric places in the region.
